Registration Policies

AECOS convenes three major meetings per year:

The hallmark of every AECOS meeting is the interactive, participatory format in which the educational sessions are designed. Attendance is not limited to AECOS physician members. Reasonable meeting registration fees are offered for non-member physicians to facilitate an expanded forum for meaningful discussion. AECOS is a unique society in which Physicians and Industry may equally benefit from the educational content and peer-to-peer interaction of AECOS meetings and activities.

Registration for AECOS Physician Members.

AECOS Physician Members may attend all AECOS Meetings free of charge, except for the required Meeting Administration Fee (assessed according to venue location). All Members must remain in good standing with annual membership dues paid.

Registration for AECOS Industry Members.

AECOS Commercial Industry Members are those who are employed by a commercial entity actively engaged in the sale of ophthalmic products. Such companies are usually known to have exhibited commercially available ophthalmic products, drugs, devices or equipment at major congresses, and may have obtained FDA and/or CE Mark clearances. All AECOS Commercial Industry Members are required to support AECOS meetings and educational programs by securing sponsorships from their respective employers. AECOS Commercial Industry Members may attend an AECOS meeting as part of their company’s sponsorship badge allocation (as granted by their corporate sponsorship agreement). Once the sponsorship is secured, the Member may elect not to participate as part of the sponsoring company’s badge allocation, but rather as an individual member. For this, only the AECOS Member Meeting Administration Fee will be charged. In the absence of sponsorship, the Commercial Industry Member may attend by paying the standard Industry Representative fee of $6,000. In addition, Members must remain in good standing with annual AECOS membership dues paid.

AECOS Non-Commercial Industry Members are those who are not employed by a commercial entity actively engaged in ophthalmology. Such members are known to provide research, business consulting or investment related services to the ophthalmic sector and considered non-commercial. This status may also apply to those Industry Members employed by early start-up companies not actively engaged in the sale of ophthalmic products, drugs, devices or equipment. AECOS Non-Commercial Industry Members may attend AECOS Meetings free of charge, except for the required Member Meeting Administration Fee. All Members must remain in good standing with annual AECOS membership dues paid.

All Industry Member registrations are subject to the review and approval of the AECOS Executive Director in order to ensure compliance with the AECOS Meeting Registration Policy.

(Non-AECOS) Industry Representative Registration.

Individual industry representatives may register and attend AECOS Meetings for a fee of $6,000 per badge in the absence of corporate sponsorship. Registration acceptance is subject to availability and must be approved by an AECOS Board Member or the AECOS Executive Director.

Guest Registration

Guests of registered meeting participants may attend any Social Programs organized outside of the AECOS educational sessions. A Guest is defined as a spouse, family member, or non-business related accompanying person. No industry representatives, physicians or other health care related professionals, i.e. practice administrators, technicians, physician staff etc., may be registered as a Guest. All Guests participating in the Social Programs are required to register, for a fee, and Guest badges must be worn while attending any AECOS Social Program function. Guests are strictly prohibited from attending any scientific, educational or training sessions as well as any related hospitality events held during these courses or sessions for Healthcare Professionals.
